2. Overview of the EN 45545-2 standard.
Regarding the fire test standards for railway vehicle materials, the test standards and methods vary from country to country. The European Union has launched a program called the Firestarr Project to research and establish a set of flammable test standards suitable for railway vehicle materials. It lays the foundation for testing of properties, flame spread rate, heat release, smoke release and toxicity.

According to the final use of the product and the degree of risk in case of fire, it will be divided into 28 different categories R1-R28. According to different vehicle types and operating environments, there are three levels of fire risk: HL1-HL3, with HL3 having the highest fire risk.

3. The EN 45545-2 standard includes the following rail vehicles
The EN 45545-2 standard specifies the fire protection and combustion test performance, smoke toxicity and other properties of the following vehicles (subway trains, high-speed rails, maglev trains, locomotives, light rail trams, trolley buses, and long-distance buses).
